Sales and the 'Talent Magnet'

A lot is written about being a ‘Talent Magnet’, either as a company, or as President. It’s all good practice – listen, mentor, reward, provide clear goals and career maps. Good practice for the employer, but what about the employee?

fSONA Optical Wireless

As the demand for oil and gas continues to increase worldwide along with it grows the need to make operations more productive and efficient. Broadband communications can improve operating efficiencies by providing high speed connections between key sites whether to support field activities, connect a growing campus or backhaul voice communications.

Oil and gas operators require integrated communications systems that are reliable and robust enough to operate in extreme and hazardous environments including during emergencies. Establishing communications in remote areas can be a costly endeavor especially when high capacity links are required to transfer large amounts of data such as during exploration operations or in office campus settings. Justifying the expense of laying fiber can be difficult, especially in situations where the length of stay at a site is indeterminate and there may not be time to generate a return on investment.

There is another solution, one that provides tremendous savings over fiber deployments without sacrificing capacity or reliability. Optical Wireless delivers the same high capacity of fiber without the cost and delay of laying physical cable. Unlike most other forms of broadband wireless, there is no spectrum license required for Optical Wireless anywhere in the world. This is due to the non-interfering nature of Optical Wireless that makes such licenses unnecessary.

These high capacity connections can be installed, aligned and operational in less than an hour, with a full installation, including site preparation, taking no more than half a day.  Additionally, all SONAbeam links are extremely portable, they can be taken down, packed up and taken with you to the next site. The SONAbeam E series Flyaway Kit comes packaged into rolling, waterproof cases with a set of carbon fiber tripods for rapid deployment. Units can be set up building to building, tower to tower, platform to platform, rig to rig or pump station to pump station.

Optical wireless transmissions are extremely secure making them well suited to provide backhaul for video surveillance systems or other sensitive data. These high capacity connections allow for the transfer of higher resolution video incorporating color improving security operations and adding clarity to video analysis. Multiple surveillance systems can be remotely monitored from a single location.

fSONA Optical Wireless systems are carrier class and are fully network managed. Information on any terminal in the network can be accessed remotely from any location, via the Internet allowing network managers a window into their network from wherever they may be. Multiple devices can be managed using the industry standard SNMP-based protocol.

fSONA Optical Wireless provides reliable and secure communications that can be set up immediately to provide high capacity bandwidth. The SONAbeam series of products have been used in such sensitive industries as public service agencies, emergency services and by the military.
