Sales and the 'Talent Magnet'

A lot is written about being a ‘Talent Magnet’, either as a company, or as President. It’s all good practice – listen, mentor, reward, provide clear goals and career maps. Good practice for the employer, but what about the employee?

Wireless communication

Wireless communication is and has become the backbone for business and commerce in the 21 st Century. Very few companies operate to day without a smaller or greater reliance on the radio spectrum for their day to day activities.

With an ever growing reliance on wireless technology it is important that system or business critical operations are performed with the highest levels of security and reliability.

The Radius Group have been providing such systems for decades and have a wealthy of experience and knowledge to draw on. Their products are in use in tens of thousands of locations worldwide from the equator to the Arctic Circle. They are the first choice for energy distributors and industry and have benefitted our clients from not only reducing operating costs but increasing operational performance and functionality.

The Radius range of digital data radios and ‘remote terminal units, RTU’s, have been specifically designed for the demanding environments they operate in, meeting both FCC and EN specifications.

For very remote locations such as off-shore or unpopulated parts of the world there is no option but to use a subscriber based communication solution, since no such infrastructure exists and the user must install their own. However for many clients they have a choice to out-source all their data communication or do bring in-house the infrastructure. Under normally circumstances both systems will work equally well, however the issue is what happens when abnormal situations occur. Often in a loss of supply situation, GSM and GPRS sites have a small and limited standby time due the heavy demands the transceivers and their associated climate controlling equipment place upon standby batteries. Furthermore since traffic is rarely prioritised, issues of throughput in peak of over demand must be considered. Lastly there is the on going issue of operational cost of subscriber systems compared to that of an in-house system. Sometimes it is far to say that this could be lower if the usage rate is low but if data demand is high then there is the question of who is really profiting from your asset base!

Radius has worked with clients all over the world in many specific and unique applications in order to bring a tailored cost affective data communication solution that meets their business needs. Specialising in getting access to remote locations Radius data products benefit from wide area coverage due to the message routing capability of their equipment. Security is enhanced with error correction and 128 bit encryption if required. Furthermore remote diagnostic software informs the user of the integrity of the data communication system and provides early warning of potential communication issues before they manifest themselves.

Remote monitoring and data telemetry is secure using the Radius range of data radios and IO modules and RTU’s and the range allows the user to select the price and features that best fit their needs.

Recently the Radius Group added voice communication to its portfolio through the acquisition of Niros Communications, a company with over 40 years experience.

Niros Communications, producers of handheld ATEX radios widely used in the Oil & Gas industry, are currently celebrating the unveiling of a new range of analogue handheld radios called the TRX 5100 ATEX. This new radio is light, robust and is available in 4 or 16 key models. The TRX 5100 ATEX has an easy to read backlit display, programmable keypad together with a long duty cycle battery. The TRX 5100 ATEX has been designed to be used with heavy gloves on with the large and easy to use PTT button and the large function keys. The all new TRX 5100 ATEX has very high levels of dust, spray and shock resistance which give it a long and reliable service life. In-built safety features such as man-down/tilt/motion detector function and emergency button give extra protection to lone workers. Niros have long been associated with producing robust handheld radios for use in hazardous and extreme environments. An advanced tone system has been developed into the TRX 5100 ATEX which includes, CCIR, ZVEI, EIA, EEA, DTMF, CTCSS and DCS. A full range of accessories is available from a variety of manufacturers for all our handheld terminals which make using a Niros radio in any type of environment possible.

Our ever popular TRX1012 ATEX family which was first produced in 1998 is still one our most sold products even today. The popularity of the TRX 1012 ATEX radio is founded on a robust design, ease of use, reliability and superior RF power output. With the combination of the three TRX 1012 ATEX transceiver models and the TRX 5100 ATEX transceiver it is possible to find the optimal handheld transceiver for the relevant hazardous ATEX environment. Niros can offer products for temperature classes T4, T5 and T6, gas groups IIB or IIC, Dust and Non-Dust. Moreover, RF power output is available at 2W, 3.5W or 4W in a metal or plastic housing.

Formed in 1966, Niros Communications has its head office and production facilities in Denmark and is a renowned leader in the production of handheld ATEX transceivers. In 2007 Niros Communications became part of the Radius Group.

So whether it is data or voice communication that is critical to your industry, Radius has a tailor made solution waiting for you.
