Frost & Sullivan Award for MATERNA`s innovative converged messaging platform TRILINK
Frost & Sullivan, the world leader in growth consulting and the integrated areas of technology research, has awarded the 2007 European Converged Messaging Platforms Excellence in Technology of the Year to the TRILINK Messaging Technology developed by MATERNA. The TRILINK is a modular platform, providing multiple solutions to handle all kinds of messaging types, regardless where they come from and where they go to. It allows operators to smoothly integrate new messaging services while maintaining the user experience of existing services.
The TRILINK Messaging Server product suite provides multiple solutions for messaging service inter-working. Based on a common core platform, multiple gateway modules for connectivity with services and networks allow operators to introduce exactly the services as required. Platform expansion can easily be realized by simply adding further TRILINK modules to the platform. This modular approach enables operators to progressively move forward to a new dimension of messaging experience and to review and optimize their messaging infrastructure.
Interoperability, integration and migration to all IP networks such as IMS are key topics that fixed-line and mobile network operators are facing today or have to face in the near future. A smooth migration to IMS/SIP multimedia services while maintaining the service experience for the end user, achieving interoperability between services for the old and the new technology and finally integration of existing Internet services into new networks are challenges that network operators are facing. The TRILINK Messaging Server is ready to be deployed in IMS networks with full support of IMS/SIP messaging and seamless inter-working with non-IMS services such as SMS or MMS.
Arun Nirmal Kumar, Analyst at Frost & Sullivan says: ”MATERNA, with their innovative TRILINK technology have demonstrated unprecedented excellence in converged messaging platforms. With the new technology from MATERNA, it becomes exceedingly simple to envision the future of converged messaging technologies and networks.”
MATERNA´s Service Delivery Platform MACS – an efficient infrastructure component for mobile services
The Mobile Application and Content Server (MACS) offers network carriers, ISPs and enterprise customers all necessary technologies to promote, distribute and charge any kind of mobile content like SMS- and MMS-related services, Java applications, ringing tones, logos, binary or streamed content (e.g. MP3, Videos or Symbian files). Furthermore, wma and, MP3 files, including complete music albums and videos, are supported.
MACS, as a white label solution, are available for all interested B2B customers, with immediate effect. It takes customers only a few steps to set up the portal according to their individual requirements. They have the choice between a myriad of languages, including Arabian. The service pack includes basic adaptations to a customer’s corporate design. The customer’s billing methods can be integrated without any complications. If required, MATERNA provides news content, created and commercialized by the company’s own editorial department.
The white label variant also provides the well-known MACS core functions, including:
Configuration management
Translation tool
Content management
Digital Rights Management (DRM)
End device specific content delivery
Efficient XML gateway for external interfaces
The available MACS module alternatives are:
Content download (e. g. ring tones, pictures)
Full track music download
SMS and MMS alerts
MMS Album/Composer
MMSC Accelerator (MMSC Bypass)
The system is based on a steady J2EE application server architecture, securing a regulated working load, scalability and high reliability. Since it allows for several user portals on one single platform, supports several languages and can give access to contents over various channels, such as SMS, MMS, WAP Push, IVR or pure XML, this system supports modern value added services in an ideal way. In the medium-term, it is designed to be supported by IP Multimedia Subsystem Technology, and therefore considered to be future-proof.
MATERNA brings its successfully launched MVNE concept to the international market
MATERNA has already founded the first real MVNE in Germany, with its subsidiary vistream GmbH – an innovator of telecommunication products and services – who is already supporting companies, who wish to establish themselves as mobile virtual network operators. The existing infrastructure of a fully featured MVNE has been designed for international markets from the beginning. MATERNA can guarantee every MVNO and branded retailer a rapid time to market.
One of the key elements of MATERNAs MVNE platform is the scalability and flexibility. The platform is adoptable to almost any environment via a component-based architecture. The standards include the complete coverage of all business processes of a mobile network. The implementation of new products can be realized by configuration instead of coding. Moreover, the ability to treat different clients in one system environment („Multi-Client-Capability“) with complete isolation of data for different MVNOs is an essential requirement. The support of billing for prepaid, postpaid, interconnection and inter-partner-billing with separate accounts receivable and collections is a basic requirement. Front-ends for Customer Care, POS, Web Self-Care, Partner, Configuration, Reporting and Operations as well as the Backend-Interfaces to Core-Network (Provisioning, CDRs), SIM Distributor, Prepaid-System and MNP are necessary.
In addition, MATERNAs MVNE platform allows supporting promotions, loyalty programs, cross-selling as well as mobile value-added services. These services reflect the increasing demand for individual telecommunication services, e.g. an integrated content management system for downloading content and various applications via one dedicated platform. Due to the increasing number of services and devices that is an essential functionality to ease the use for the customer and in conclusion to increase the revenue for the provider.
