International Safety Training Centre Ltd. (ISTC) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Malta-based Alberta Group. Since it was founded in the year 2000 with its main operating centre at Hal Far, Malta, ISTC has firmly established itself and built a sound international reputation for top quality training services focused to meet and exceed to-day’s highly specialized and very demanding training environment.

The core activity of the company consists in fire and safety training for personnel employed mainly with the international, regional and national oil & gas companies operating on-shore or offshore Egypt, Libya, Tunisia and Mauritania. ISTC has also provided its training services to companies from Algeria, Austria, Argentina, Equatorial Guinea, France, Germany, Ghana, Greece, Italy, Korea, Rumania, Russia, Serbia, Singapore, South Africa, Switzerland, Turkey, Great Britain, and the USA.

The training curriculum ranges from basic to advanced levels of fire fighting (urban / rural / petrochemical / industrial / maritime / offshore / aviation), hazardous materials, sea survival (including helicopter underwater escape), helicopter and helideck operations, emergency response, first aid, search and rescue, occupational health & safety as well as more specific courses such as defensive driving and desert driving of 4x4 and heavy goods vehicles, scaffolding, lift truck and crane operators, slingers and banksmen.

ISTC's courses are in compliance with the latest EU and US standards and are accredited to international industry-specific standards such as OPITO (offshore petroleum industry training organisation) and IMO (International Maritime Organisation).

The excellent international reputation which ISTC has gained over the years is reflected by its being awarded full membership of EFSCA (European Fire Service Colleges Association) which is the highest honour to which a European fire fighting training centre can hope to aspire.

ISTC is also registered as training provider for airport / aviation fire fighting with ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation) which regulates the policy and standards for civil aviation in 190 contracting countries.

As an Associate Learning Centre for Texas A&M University - TEEX, ISTC has full access to the latest cutting-edge technology enabling it to offer training in fire fighting, safety, security and rescue operations set to globally recognized standards such as US NFPA (National Fire Protection Association), US Pro-Board and the AHA (American Heart Association).

Accredited training standards, consistent quality management, fast and efficient service combined with excellent geographical location and competitive pricing policies have established ISTC as the region's leading training centre for this sector resulting in acquisition and retention of high profile major players from the international scene which include multinational corporations such as Amerada Hess, British Gas, British Petroleum, BakerHughes, ConocoPhilips, Eni, GreyStar, Halliburton, MI-Swaco, OMV, Oxydental, Petrobras, PetroCanada, Repsol, Schlumberger, Shell, Total, Weatherford, Wintershall (in alphabetical order).

Renovation and upgrading of ISTC's training centre in Tripoli, Libya are at a very advanced stage of completion and the wide range of ISTC's O&G related training courses will very soon become easily accessible to delegates not only from Libya but also from the MENA region.

ISTC's Tripoli centre is presently expanding the range of training courses to include Opito accredited Bosiet, Foet and Huet &Ebs courses. These courses are expected to come on line around end-March 2010.
