SIMTRONICS Groupis a world-class provider of sophisticated Gas and flame detection systems, Extinguishing solutions and Fire prevention systems (N2). Our systems and solutions are used worldwide to help protect life, assets and the environment.
The Detection systems division focuses on gas and flame detection products and systems.
Our products are designed with three core values: safety, reliability and low life cycle costs.
The “Simrad” GD10P infrared point detector has become the benchmark for combustible gas detection on North Sea offshore installations. This detector differs from other models, because it uses silicon based solid-state infrared sources. The complete optomechanical design and construction is so stable that an ultra fast speed of response can be achieved whilst providing unparalleled service live and detector stability, thus saving on maintenance and service costs. The GD10P is the only detector with a selectable speed of response this is because the IR sources flash 50 times faster than competing products; this also helps make the unit more immune to vibration.
For arid locations, such as in the Middle East we developed a specialist MOS hydrogen sulphide point detector. The DMTT-6-MOS detector uses a semiconductor sensor and advanced onboard compensation signal processing. The DMTT-6-MOS has higher reliability and lower maintenance than similar products and needs recalibration just once a year.
A further development in H2S detection has seen Simtronics launch the GD1 laser based open path gas detector. The GD1 is ideal for personnel safety monitoring as it is able to detect 5ppm hydrogen sulphide gas clouds. The detector response time is considerably faster than MOS or electrochemical detectors. Furthermore, the GD1 offers real cost savings within two years: Using a single transmitter/receiver pair, the detector covers distances of up to 100 metres. Installation and maintenance costs are reduced as fewer devices are needed to cover the same risk.
The GD1 can be used in a SIL II system without the need for voting and needs only annual calibration verification.
Simtronics’ large range of conventional toxic, oxygen and catalytic detectors are widely used in demanding industrial applications where the built-in flexibility and easy maintenance are important features. All of these units can be commissioned using a wireless handheld communicator by a single person. In addition, the detector heads for most of our toxic and oxygen detectors are “hot” swappable reducing the permit demands for maintenance.
The DMTV-6 flame detector family uses a common platform with interchangeable detector cartridges giving either 3IR or combined UV/2IR flame detection performance. These devices have been supplied for numerous projects ranging from FPSO’s to gas turbine enclosures and aircraft hangars. Our detectors have a wide field of view and have a detection range of up to 80m, this allows for better coverage and presents more options regarding detector location. All of these units can be commissioned using a wireless handheld communicator by a single person.
The SYNTEL™ addressable field network is often a key component in our detection solutions for petrochemical and chemical plants as well as nuclear and conventional power plants. The Syntel TM system has no common failure mode and has a self-healing detection loop that works properly even if a single open or short circuit exists.
The engineering and delivery of these projects is based on years of experience as well as utilising the synergy of the total product range of the Simtronics group.
The Extinguishing solutions division was formed in April 2007 with the acquisition of Water Mist Engineering AS (WME). Water Mist Engineering AS (WME) is a dynamic, Norwegian technology company that provides engineered Active Fire Fighting solutions for protecting people and facilities.
Our commitments to excellence are based upon a deep and wide experience in Mechanical, Electrical and Fire Fighting Technology.

In February 2008 the division expanded with the Fire Eater A/S acquisition.
Fire Eater systems have been installed in many countries all over the world, including a wide range of different installation types where the use of water in conventional fire extinguishing is not an option.
Fire Eater is an international company with headquarters in Denmark. This office handles all development, production, distribution, installation, sales, export and support for our sister companies in the Czech Republic (Prague), Hungary (Budapest), Poland (Warsaw) and Russia (Kaliningrad).
Fire Eater’s efficient distribution network covers most of the world and is made up of hand-picked business partners who are trained in working with fixed extinguishing systems. Our business partners represent the elite of the fire protection industry.
With the invention of INERGEN® Fire Eater achieved the status of the industry’s innovative partner. We solve the concrete problems ordinary fire-extinguishing systems cannot cope with.
The company’s list of references shows the large numbers of customers who have made use of our expertise based on the environmentally-friendly inert gas INERGEN®, which today constitutes the backbone of the company’s core business.
It is not every company that gets to protect human lives, property and the environment
Fixed fire extinguishing systems with INERGEN .
Where many other companies within the industry has grown through takeovers or by spreading there business up- or downwards the supply chain, Fire Eater has continually focused on doing what they do best – being a top service supplier of fixed extinguishing systems.
Fire Eaters 300 was the first company in the world to use 300 bar cylinders in connection with fixed fire extinguishing systems, thereby reducing the costs and footprint of the cylinder bank. The 300 bar system offers the possibility to storage the cylinders more than 200 meter away from the protected area which offers the costumers a great flexibility when planning a project with INERGEN.
World’s safest extinguishing system
INERGEN ® is the world’s safest extinguishing system, causing no harm to human health. This has been proven in practice by more than 5000 full-scale tests.
No other solution can guarantee that.
What does this mean?
By avoiding the use of dangerous chemicals or water, INERGEN ® offers the best:
Protection of human life
Protection of buildings and materials
Protection of the environment
Ensures survival of equipment
Chemical and water alternatives can quickly destroy expensive electronic equipment. Because INERGEN ® snuffs out fires before they spread, there is no risk of damage to valuable inventory.
Snuffs out fires before they start
Like sprinkler or halon systems, INERGEN® is activated by detectors. Once a fire is detected, INERGEN ® is released. It essentially suffocates the fire in just 30-40 seconds. It works by displacing the oxygen that allows the fire to breathe – and it does so without risk to humans. There is no odour, no smoke, and no damaging chemicals.
Environmentally friendly
INERGEN ® offers a friendly alternative that does not damage the ozone layer. When it is released, the gases simply take their natural place in the atmosphere. The small amount of carbon dioxide is derived from natural processes, so it does not contribute to global warming.
The Fire prevention systems division was formed in February 2008 with the acquisition of ETech Process AS. ETech Process AS was established in 1993, with emphasis on in-house development of products based on environmental technology. Through the years, the company has developed a range of process products and systems, basically within water and air-gas separation.
ETech Process holds numerous references within marine and offshore installations, for Offshore both on international and within the Norwegian Continental Shelf, the North Sea. The first nitrogen generator unit was delivered in the year 2000 to ExxonMobil. From here on, the company has moved into the maritime ship building industry, with supply of nitrogen generators, based on membrane technology. For maritime references ETech has been a major supplier worldwide with the new ENG series.
In 2003, ETech with the experience and know-how, advanced further within the nitrogen generation field by developing a new concept with patented solutions. The result was an integrated, all-in-one type, with feed air compressor and nitrogen generator. Since then, new types have been produced for the international maritime market. The ENG-series gives a lot of advantages in terms of performance and size in addition to compact design and easy installation. Furthermore, the customer will benefit from the co-operative worldwide service and support network.
